Com mais de trinta temporadas no ar, o midsummer madness e outros selos parecidos – conduzidos por empreendedores antes que o termo fosse criado - precisam, de fato, continuar existindo para que o lado B seja ouvido, para que os pequenos feitos também sejam valorizados, para que a história não seja contada apenas pelo ponto de vista dos poderosos, para que não tenhamos que admirar apenas os heróis e suas superproezas.

- Nosso catálogo está longe de representar toda a produção alternativa brasileira. Ele é, no máximo, um recorte muito singular de um universo que não tocou em rádio, não saiu em jornal, não ocupou os topos das playlists – resume Lariú, que nunca adicionou um CEO ao seu nome.

– E o midsummer madness não seria nada sem as bandas que toparam participar das minhas loucuras. O fato de eu ter aprendido o caminho das pedras sozinho causou alguns vacilos. Essa sensação de que eu poderia ter me dedicado mais é uma constante. Ao mesmo tempo, ter revisto toda a história do selo, escutado de novo todos os discos, refeito contato com todas as pessoas, isso me deu um orgulho danado. O saldo geral de 30 anos é muito positivo.

É mesmo. Parabéns.

Mas vem cá: por que o nome com as letras em minúsculas?
- Porque numa das primeiras edições do zine, para fazer a capa com letraset, lembra? aquelas letrinhas decalcáveis que você comprava em papelaria, só tinha letra minúscula. Eu gostei do resultado e ficou. Tem alguma coisa bruta, feia, que eu não gosto quando as pessoas escrevem Midsummer Madness.

With more than 30 seasons on the air, midsummer madness and other similar Brazilian labels - driven by entrepreneurs before the term was coined - need to, in fact, continue to exist so the B-side is heard, so that small feat is also valued; so that the story is not told only from the point of view of the powerful; so that we don't have to admire only the heroes and their super feats.

- Our catalogue is far from representing all the alternative Brazilian production. It is, at most, a very singular clipping of a universe that was not played on the radio, not in the newspapers, not at the top of the playlists - sums Lariú, who never added a CEO to his name.

- And midsummer madness would be nothing without the bands that agreed to join my madness. The fact that I learned my way DIY causes me to waver a bit. This feeling that I could have done more is a constant. At the same time, to review the whole history of the label, listen to all the records again, make contact with all the people again, that made me really proud. The overall balance of 30 years is very positive.

It really is. Congratulations.

But tell me: why the name with the lower case letters?
- Because in one of the first editions of the zine, to design the cover, I had to use those little adhesive letters that you buy in stationery stores. The ones I liked only existed in lowercase letters. I liked the result and kept it like that. There is something raw, ugly, that I don't like when people write Midsummer Madness.
