JUSTINE NEVER KNEW THE RULES

Em uma época que a guitarra está condenada à obsolescência, parece-me um tiro no pé montar uma banda e dar protagonismo para essa velha caixa de madeira barulhenta e cheia cordas.

Ainda bem que, para nossa sorte, com o perdão do trocadilho, algumas pessoas nunca souberam das regras de bom senso e etiqueta do mainstream, e ignoram toda e qualquer tendência modernosa da música, apenas com um objetivo: LIBERDADE CRIATIVA, algo que só o “luxo” de ser artista independente, sem rabo preso com ninguém, pode proporcionar. Esse é o claro exemplo da banda “Justine Never Knew The Rules” daqui de Sorocaba, um grupo de garotos que tem maior tesão por aquilo que fazem.

O que me surpreendeu, desde o primeiro show, em 2014, era que a banda já sabia lidar muito bem com o palco. Sempre prezaram em proporcionar uma experiência visual mais lisérgica em suas apresentações, com mapa de palco e iluminação bem trabalhados, projeções de vídeos produzidos e editados por artistas locais, tudo para criar aquela atmosfera onírica e intimista que casa perfeitamente com a proposta musical do grupo.

Apesar de serem shoegazers natos, a banda nunca se restringiu somente a isso, como o próprio nome sugere, eles não estão interessados em seguir uma cartilha ou um manual de regras do shoegaze, todo o diálogo com vertentes diversas do rock alternativo sempre foi bemvindo.

Desde o começo, por exemplo, a gente já podia observar um flerte com a psicodelia, com o dreampop e agora, os vejo apresentando músicas um pouco “mais pops”, mas com leves pinceladas de art rock e post rock. Como a obra do pintor Marc Chagall, que pode tanto celebrar a beleza dos amantes como também é capaz de registrar as tensões e medos causados pela guerra, o som da Justine é assim: nos leva sempre a lugares extremos , repleto de contrastes e cores, da amabilidade à melancolia, da leveza de sonhar ao peso de existir. Difícil como a sensação de estar transando pela ultima vez com alguém que (talvez) não te ame mais, numa dura despedida de corpos e, ao mesmo tempo, tão relaxante como ficar um tempo observando gatos.

A receita é simples, porém ousada: Imagine uma balada pop perfeita, com uma melodia bela e ensolarada como as do Beach Boys, agora afogue tudo isso em timbres atmosféricos de guitarra, microfonias, muros de som e pedais de fuzz ... temos aí a dinâmica que descreve o Beautiful Noise da JNKTR.
